About

Carol Joo Lee is an artist who loves working with clay and chasing that perfect glaze moment. The "Moonlet" series rose out of a desire to merge functional and sculptural, and the awe of the direct conversation between the materials of ceramics and the twinkling universe. Carol combines her unique glaze palette with a riff on a traditional Korean tea cup form to make this lovely sculptural tea set hand-thrown from white stoneware with a sunset haze of oranges, yellows, light blue and a hint of green. While not in use the piece functions as a sculpture resembling one of Saturn's moons. The piece can be rearranged to function as a cup and saucer with a warming dome on top.
