Siderale, Sommerso and Battuto Glass Sculpture by Giorgio Vigna

About the Item

Sculpture in translucent glass whose interior has a "cavity" in blue sommerso glass. The blue color causes a slight exterior reflection. The entire exterior of the piece is wheel engraved. Giorgio Vigna is above all a jewellery designer, here he draws an interior jewellery, a rare piece of which very few copies have been produced. “The memory of the furnace conveyed by the Siderale Vase collection derives from the very process of glass making. In this design, a master glass blower’s tool, intended as a means rather than as an end, has been released from its traditional function and freed to acquire aesthetic and evocative value. Cones bearing all the marks of production have become enigmatic stalactites of ice with a totally new function.” - Giorgio Vigna
