Antique Chamberlain Worcester English Porcelain Pug Mother Dog & Puppy Figurine

About the Item

A rare, early 19th century English hard-paste porcelain pug & puppy figurine. These early English figurines are all modeled after the Meissen factory's first Pug model by J. Kaendler (in an attempt to reproduce his fashionable style that had taken Europe by storm in the late 18th and early 19th century). The Victoria and Albert Museum holds two similar figures identified as Chamberlain Worcester and dated as early 19th century. Each varies slightly in size and pose. We also attribute this model to the Chamberlain Worcester factory and date this particular model to the early part of the 19th century. Simply a wonderful, rare pug example! Height: circa 8 in. Items purchased from David Sterner Antiques must delight you. Purchases may be returned for any reason for a period of 7 days.
