Alexandre Ouline, Bronze Sculpture of a Flying Albatross, 1920s

About the Item

Alexandre Ouline – Bronze Sculpture of a Flying Albatross France Bronze 1920s Dimensions: H × W × D: 30 × 39 × 15 cm Description: Expressive bronze sculpture depicting a gliding albatross above stylised ocean waves. The bird’s dynamic posture, captured in full wingspan, and the fluid, almost abstract treatment of the sea reflect the formal vocabulary of French Art Déco. The bronze is signed on the wave base with "OULINE" and additionally inscribed "BRONZE – FRANCE". The green-black patinated surface is typical of the period. The sculpture is mounted on a solid base of polished dark marble with white veining. Background: Alexandre Ouline was an early 20th-century sculptor active in France. His works, mainly in bronze, often depict animals or allegorical figures and are associated stylistically with the Art Déco movement. Although biographical details remain sparse, Ouline’s sculptures are documented in several private and public collections and are repeatedly featured in the art trade since the 1930s. Condition: Very good condition. The bronze is well preserved with minor wear to the patina.
