About the Item

Created by Allan Therkelsen for Royal Copenhagen, this white porcelain polar bear and her two cubs were from the 'Motherly Love' series of figures. Beautifully sculptured and hand painted using the underglaze technique, a method of painting the piece before being covered with a transparent glaze and then fired in the kiln. This is a delightful piece of Royal Copenhagen Stamped and numbered 087, circa 2000-2004 Measures: Height 6.5 inch, width 10 inch, depth 8 inch In perfect condition. This piece has never been on display and has remained in its original box

    Royal Copenhagen's Polar Bear and Seal were designed by Knud Carl Edvard Kyhn around 1908/9 and has been a popular porcelain figurine #1108. Knud Carl Edvard Kahn (1880 - 1969) was a Danish painter, draftsman and ceramic sculptor. He was the nephew of the landscape painter, Vilhelm Kahn, and was educated at the Kunstakademiet and Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler in 1904.
