Antique Black Forest Hand-Carved Deer or Elk Head Wall Plaque or Sculpture

About the Item

This well executed antique wall sculpture is unsigned, but presumed to have been done in Switzerland in approximately 1890 in the period Black Forest style. This hand-carved sculpture depicts the head of a deer or elk and is mounted on a wall plaque that has a raised stylized shield accent. The antlers fit into the head with hand-carved squared pegs, which have matching squared plugs in the top of the head.
