Rare white Rosenthal Studio line 'Structura' vase by Martin Freyer 'Structura Paper' Series that Rosenthal made in the 1960s. Hans Martin Freyer (1909-1975) was a German painter and designer. He was born in Hanover, Germany and studied at the at the Technische Universität Darmstadt (Darmstadt University of Technology). In 1933, he spent time in the Balkans, Italy, France and Switzerland. After returning to Germany, he studied at the Universität der Künste Berlin (University of Art Berlin) and the Reimann School in Berlin. From 1937 to 1938, Freyer worked as a landscape architect, interior designer and set designer in the US. Upon his return to Germany he designed the Volkswagen logo. During the Second World War, Freyer worked as an art designer for stage productions of opera houses, cabaret stages and variety shows. Throughout his career Freyer also worked as a portrait artist, as well as a graphic and industrial designer for surface decorations and structures. He created designs for wallpapers, textiles, decorative materials and light metal. From 1964 to 1974, he designed for Rosenthal Porcelain, developing relief decorations for glass and porcelain vases of the studio-line. His most well-known design is the Pleated Vase...

SALE ONE WEEK ONLY The monumental "Lynx", the snarling cat, was modeled by Royal Copenhagen artist Knud Kyhn, and created ca. 1950. It’s a monumental piece and remarkably well-preserved with an expressive snarl. The figure is marked by Royal Copenhagen Denmark as shown and numbered 2487. It is in excellent condition with no damage. Knud Kyhn (1880-1969) was a very productive artist who throughout his life created works of art that are still valued all over the world. In Denmark, he is especially known for his many animal figurines, which he created through his many years of service at Royal Copenhagen. He worked for the Royal Porcelain Factory from 1903 - 1910, 1924 - 1932 and 1936 - 1967, interrupted only by a period of work for Herman A. Kahler in Naestved in the early 1920s and at Bing & Grondahl 1908 - 1915 and 1933 - 1935. He was a Danish painter, draftsman and ceramic sculptor. He was the nephew of the landscape painter, Vilhelm Kahn, and was educated at the Kunstakademiet and Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler in 1904.
