Large bronze Japanese Meiji period tiger on a natural carved wood base, circa 1890. Robust and energetic in a walking pose. Textured stripes in subtle relief with an even dark brown patina. Carved, fitted, heavy wood base done in a natural style of boroughs and roots. The antique base adds to the overall presence of the bronze. (The stand measures: 21.5 X 10 X 2.25" H).
