About the Item

Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown amethyst purple and gold flecks Italian art glass swan sculpture / bird figurine. The piece is documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950-60s. The bird still retains an original (worn) "Venetian - Made By Alfredo Barbini for Weil Ceramics & Glass - Murano Italy" label. Also has remnants of an item number label underneath. Created in the Sommerso technique, with a light to dark fade inside the figure. The swan has a very elegant shape, with long thin neck. The eyes are made with little yellow and black canes. The head, and crest, are filled with gold leaf throughout. The swan is nicely sculpted, and very cute. Would make a great display piece on any desk, vanity or curio cabinet. It could also be used as a paperweight. You will be able to showcase it as a decorative piece in any room. Mid-century era. Measures: 5 1/4" tall x 3 1/2” long x 2 1/4" wide.
