"Nude on Horseback, " Art Deco Sculpture by Else Bach for Karlsruhe

About the Item

The large and rare Majolica group consisting of a nude male figure riding a horse was sculpted by Else Bach for the famous Karlsruhe ceramic works in the 1920s-1930s. Bach is best known as an animalier, although she also liked to pair nude male figures with horses, all enrobed in a lovely ivory glaze with details picked out in a warm, velvety taupe color. For collectors of Art Deco sculptures featuring the nude, this is a special find.
