About the Item
A pair of antique Chiang Mai wood mythical guardian animals from Thailand. Carved in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand, this pair of mythical guardian animals attracts our attention with their striking features and polychrome finish. Made of old wood, each animal showcases a fierce roaring face, teeth and tongues visible and perfectly highlighted by a yellow, green and red polychromy. These removable heads are resting on bodies with matching colors. Made to guard the entrance of a temple and said to reside in the Himavanta Forest at the base of the mythical Mount Meru, this pair of Thai mythical guardian animals will make for a great conversation piece in any home!
