Two Art Deco Cat Bookends, designed by Chris van der Hoef for Gero, 1933


Two lovely Art Deco bookends, designed by Chris van der Hoef for Gero in Zeist. The tin bookends show two cats drinking from their bowls. The bookends are both marked with the manufacturers mark at the end of the plates and monogrammed with the artists initials 'CJH' on the figures. The bookends are executed by Gero in 1933. A true talking piece in your interior and a beautiful addition to your bookcase! Christiaan Johannes van der Hoef (1875-1933) was a well-known and established Dutch designer, painter, sculptor and ceramist and one of the frontrunners of the Dutch Art Nouveau and Art Deco movement.
