About the Item
Beautifully hand carved antique wooden sculpture.
The sculptor who created this rare and exceptional young girl bust, in our view, perfectly captured her innocence and fragility. The artists of days gone by keep surprising us with the quality and beauty of their work and that is one of the reasons why we cannot see ourselves doing anything else for a living. This endearing maiden sculpture was first hand carved out of solid wood. Then it would have been covered in a very thin layer of a lime-plaster-like-substance and finally it would have been patinated. As you can see in our images the patination over the years has only grown warmer which makes this young maiden even more impressive. Her face is an absolute joy to look at and no matter where you decide to have her on display, her pleasant calmness and sheer beauty is like a breath of fresh air.
