Bronze Bust of Aeskulap

About the Item

This stylsh bronze sculpture of the Greek god oh healing Aeskulap, and it was most likely originally acquired on the grand tour of Europe in the late 19th century. Note: At the bottom edge of each side there is a small hole, so we assume that at some point in time the piece had a base attached to it (see photos). Note: There is a small pin-hole in the brade on his head (see photo). Note: This piece is attributed to the sculptor Paul Stotz. About the Sculptor: Paul STOTZ (1850-1897) Paul Stotz was a German art foundryman in Stuttgart, Germany. From 1876 Paul Stotz headed the newly established arts and crafts department of Albert Stotz's father's foundry . The department traded under the name Bronce-Waaren-Fabrik A. Stotz, Stuttgart at lower Neckarstrasse 134.
