Demetre Chiparus Art Deco Terracotta Sculpture Elephant and Baby
About the Item
Demetre Chiparus (1888-1950) designed this gorgeous Art Deco fine terracotta sculpture. The artwork features a brown-red patinated Art Deco walking elephants on a large base. The female elephant is trumpeting and followed by her baby. The hand-written incised D. H. Chiparus's signature is visible on the base, and the marking on the other side reads Editions Reveyrollis - Paris. This piece has lots of presence, and the spectacular surface finish has a hand-made feel.
Original condition, no chip, no crack, no repair. The mother elephant has its original terracotta tusks.
Measurements: 25.57 in wide (65 cm) x 5.50 in deep (14 cm) x 18.13 in high (46 cm).
