This is monumental vintage Italian marble shoulder length carved bust of Socrates, dating from circa 1950 in date. His face and body has been sensitively modelled in Scagliola and Carrara marble on a cylindrical Carrara plinth base, the bust is very heavy and weighs 151 kgs ( 333 lbs ).
