13 Scandinavian Modern Glass Pieces by Swedish Avant Garde Designer Erik Höglund

About the Item

Scandinavian Modern 13 glass pieces by the Swedish Enfant Terrible Erik Höglund for Boda. Between 7-14 cm diameter. These pieces can be displayed as sculptures in a window or used as plates for herbs or salt. Erik Höglund developed his own distinctive design style during the 1950s. The shapes were simple and original, often inspired by primitive culture and folk glass art. The objects were heavy and rustic, with no sharp edges or flat surfaces. The glass often took human and sculptural forms. Erik designed colored glass that was reinforced in backlight. The glass mass contained air bubbles - sometimes reinforced by the manufacturing method. He stamped seals in the glass with faces, bulls and other symbols.
