A 19th century French bronze of two cherubs and a fawn playing with a panther. Signed By Victor Paillard on a marble base The pather looks confused as two cherubs play and ride on its back, a young fawn lies beneath the big cat, perhaps he used himself as bait to lure the panther into their game! Victor Paillard (1805-1886) Paillard is best known as bronze founder but he also created many of his own works including decorative items and clocks. He worked with many well known sculptors such as Pradier, Barye and Carrier-Belleuse.
