Antique Grand Tour Bronze Sculpture of the Crouching Venus after Giambologna

About the Item

A very fine Grand Tour bronze sculpture. Modeled after the 'Crouching Venus' by Giambologna. Depicting Venus surprised at her bath with an overturned urn at her feet. Mounted on a slate and variegated marble plinth. Simply a wonderful bronze sculpture! Provenance: From the estate of Catherine Spencer Eddy Beveridge (who was a Socialite and Philanthropist, wife of Senator Beveridge of Indiana, and the niece of Marshall Field) and by descent in her family. Date: 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There are chips and flakes to the edges of the slate portions of the plinth, some very fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Measurements: Height: ca. 8 in. Width: ca. 3 1/2 in. Depth: ca. 3 1/2 in.
