A very fine Mid-20th century clear and frosted glass figurative study trophy in the form of a jazz musician playing a saxophone with excellent crisp handcut detail, signed and with original sticker. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Height: 21 cm Condition: Excellent Condition circa: 1950 Materials: Clear Glass ABOUT Cristallerie de Sèvres is born in 1750 by the initiative of Madame Pompadour. However, it was not until the reign of Charles X when the true splendor of Cristal de Sèvres occurs. This has only been possible thanks to the remarkable quality of its products, including his famous “Opalines”, crown jewel, or the wonderful pieces set in silver and gold and released in the Universal Exhibition of 1878. In just a century and a half, Cristal de Sèvres and their luxury glassware conquer the “art de la table” lovers, with its aesthetic with the times, its timeless sophistication and its famed crystal Craft, unmatched legacy of master glass makers eighteenth century. Cristal de Sèvres currently is the result of Madame de Pompadour’s will to create simple and elegant collections, objects of desire and exclusivity. It’s style is recognized in the whole world at first sight. A timeless game of edges against the curves, the thickness and refinement, the clearness against opacity, that reveals the brightness and beauty of crystal in a landscape of contrasts accomplices.

Rochard chose the course of an artist’s life and turned to animal sculpture in order, as he used to say “pay tribute to animals”. On leaving the École des Beaux-Arts at the age of 22, he won first prize for a life-size panther sculpture and many other prizes and awards followed throughout his career. In the 1920’s Rochard frequently met with other animal sculptors, including François Pompon and Edouard Sandoz.
