About the Item
Beautifully detailed and crafted Art Deco female figure in cold painted spelter dating to the 1930's. She's unsigned but attributed to Josef Lorenzl. It's more common than not his pieces of this styling were unsigned. From any angle she gracefully poses a movement. Her condition is very good with minimal signs indicating her age. She stands on a stepped alabaster plinth, which has minor signs of age.
Josef Lorenzl (1892 - 1950 Vienna)
A famous bronze sculptor in the Art Deco period, Josef Lorenzl worked from the early part of the 20th Century and started his career at a foundry in the Vienna Arsenal where he learned the techniques of bronze casting. Here Lorenzl designed bronze and chryselephantine figurines and also works in spelter.
