Exceptional, and extremely rare Monumental wooden African sculpture depicting a maternity, but a very unusual maternity, probably a Queen and his son... Ashanti, Africa, Ghana, Accra ethnicity, first part of 20th century. Measures: H. 35" x W. 13" x P. 17" H. 89 cm x L. 33 cm x P. 43 cm It is not necessary to say how rare is this kind of African sculpture on the market. An African sculpture depicting a queen is almost impossible to find even in worldwide museums. This fabulous one comes from very few successive collections in Europe to proudly end-up in our gallery in Los Angeles. Provenance: Gabriel Massa Collection, France.
