A bronze figure of a classical athlete on horseback, after the antiques, mounted on a plain rectangular bronze and red marble base, Italy, late 19th century This Italian statue, is inspired after the Roman and Greek antiques. These kind of statues have always been popular in the Renaissance and baroque period (first classical revival and in the Regency and Empire periods, considered the second revival. In the late 19th century and beginning of the 20th century we observe a third revival. This work of art clearly depicts the strength of both the rider and horse is cast in bronze and has a beautiful patina. This statue will be an attractive piece on your office desk, sideboard or dresser. Execution Italy, late 19th century Condition: Excellent, no imperfections.
