Bronze Group, Young Boy and His Trained Pet Monkey, German, Dated, 1894
About the Item
This very whimsical bronze features a young street kid, cigar in hand, and monkey on a chain in the other hand. A scene that should inspire a smile. Sculpted by the Danish artist Carl Theodore Wegener (1865-1935), and cast by the noted German foundry, Gladenbeck. Bearing the artisit's and foundry's signature as well as the date. The bronze is highly detailed and displays a rich dark brown patina in excellent condition, and mounted on a 2 tiered rouge marble base. A hard to beat combination.
