About the Item
A beautiful French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze and ormolu statue of the 'Allégorie de l'Histoire' by Georges Bareau and F. Barbedienne. This "Symbol of History" statue is a beautiful collaboration by renowned sculptor George Bareau and celebrated foundry Ferdinand Barbedienne. The elegant bronze is raised by a square base and pedestal, where the elegant maiden is seated. The half clothed lady is draped in a wonderfully executed flowing fabric and holds an ormolu quill in one hand and a striking ormolu scroll in the other. She displays an elegant pensive gaze and wears her hair in an updo with an ormolu headband.
