Superior Pair of 19th Century Patinated & Parcel Gilt Bronze Figural Candelabra

About the Item

An exceptionally fine pair of 19th century patinated & parcel gilt bronze figural candelabra, executed in the Rococo manner closely associated with works by Claude Michel (Clodion) 1738-1814. Showing finely sculpted & patinated bronze figures of a faun & putto of mounted upon naturalistically modelled & richly gilded bases, holding aloft pairs of richly gilded foliate cast branches with tulip shaped nozzles & detachable drip pans. Both exhibiting a fine old patina overall, and raised upon stepped ‘Rouge Griotte’ marble bases with gilt beading.

    Replacements made: One small mounting screw on the reverse of the faun is a later replacement. Wear consistent with age and use. Both are in very fine overall condition and exhibit a fine old patina overall.
