Grayson Perry "Key Worker" Staffordshire Figure 'Design 1', 2021

About the Item

A Grayson Perry glazed ceramic hand painted Key Worker Staffordshire Figure, which is part of his "Home Worker & Key Worker" series created for the Bristol Museum of Art in 2021. This figure is Design 1 of 4. Grayson Perry's Home Worker & Key Worker Staffordshire Figures were created as part of Grayson's Art Club Series 2 Bristol Museum & Art Gallery Exclusive. These unsigned open editions had a limited run (believed to be 200 per design) and were available for a very brief period, in 4 designs. The figure features the Artist's symbol, stamped into on the back, and is in pristine condition. Grayson Perry is best known for his ceramics, which draw on both the aesthetics of classical pottery and on contemporary iconography. He often references his feminine alter ego “Claire,” who has appeared throughout the rest of his extensive oeuvre as well—Perry also makes textiles, sculptures, and installations, and he has written graphic novels and spearheaded a broadcast television program. Some of Perry’s major themes include the roles of gender, class, taste, and religion in contemporary life, particularly in the United Kingdom. He has exhibited in London, New York, Paris, Amsterdam, Rome, and beyond. He won the Turner Prize in 2003. (Artsy).
