Italian 19th Century Alabaster Statue and Marble Pedestal

About the Item

A stunning and extremely high quality Italian 19th century Alabaster statue and marble pedestal. The statue is raised on a striking Italian 19th century Louis XVI st. marble pedestal displaying an octagonal base below a circular mottled border. The circular central support displays beautiful and richly carved flowers at the front and finely detailed acanthus leaves above at the mottled octagonal display tier. The statue above depicts a young girl standing on a ground like designed base where a charming finely detailed bird is eating grains off the ground. The beautiful young girl is leaning on a richly sculpted rock with an exquisite array of wonderfully executed blooming flowers. She is wearing an elegant dress falling off of her shoulder with a fine dentil design with a bow in her hair and a lovely necklace. She holds her dress up filling it will the grain that she is spilling to feed the birds. Statue: H: 32" L: 11 D: 13" Pedestal: H: 30" L: 17" D: 17".

    An exquisite and extremely high quality Italian 19th century white Carrara marble statue on its original Vert de Patricia marble pedestal signed Prof. R. Romanelli Firenze. The impressive pedestal displays a fine octagonal base below an elegant socle shaped support and tapered circular central column with fluted designs below the mottled circular top with lovely wrap around foliate designs. The white Carrara marble statue above displays a wonderfully executed ground designed base with charming branches and leaves where the beautiful nude young Aphrodite is kneeling. She has a finely detailed flowing fabric draped over her leg and is clutching a bird at her chest protecting it from the serpent at her feet. She wears a richly sculpted floral wreath in her hair and displays exceptional attention to detail throughout.
