An attractive and high quality Italian 19th century white Carrara marble bust, signed by Giovanni Sartorio. This truly wonderful bust of a beautiful woman is raised and supported on her original socle pedestal. The circular socle pedestal is tastefully designed with carved acanthus leaves and a unique technique called 'faux aging". This technique is used to give a piece an appearance of age and authenticity, making it look as though it has weathered the passage of time. The socle pedestal is where the signature of the very respected Giovanni Sartorio is visible. This beautiful woman is displayed with lovely flowing hair, a finely detailed necklace and earrings, and a head garment.
