About the Item
A lifesize French 19th-20th century carved marble sculpture of "Venus and Cupid" In the manner of Felix Maurice Charpentier (French, 1858-1924). The tall and slender nude figure of a maiden beauty, seated on a tree trunk, her right hand caressing her long hair and holding on to a joyful cherub (cupid or angel) posing with one leg up standing on by her side while stammeringly staring at her. Spuriously inscribed at the base: M. Charpentier. Paris, circa 1900.
