Pair of Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Soldiers

About the Item

A well modelled pair of Tang dynasty painted pottery soldiers. The warriors portrayed standing, dressed in form fitting, elaborate layered Armor with fitted helmets. The breastplates feature impressive taotie masks at the shoulders. Their faces are individually molded and display distinct character. They hold their arms out in front of them. Their clasped hands would originally have held wooden weapons, which have long since disintegrated. Much of the original pigment remains.
