About

This powerful Art Deco style figure of a worker, a painter, portrays the dignity and sheer strength of the worker class in the period of socialist ascendancy in the early 20th century. Bachelet produced figures for Henriot Quimper starting in the 1920s through the late 1930s, specifically to design pieces for the 1925 decorative arts pavilion. This modeling is definitely cubist inspired. Bachelet's figures were produced also in an all white glaze, but are more rare and desirably when poly-chrome.
