Holmegaard Handmade Glass Relief / Sun Catcher Abstract Motif "Summer", 1975

About the Item

Large handmade glass relief or sun catcher made for Holmegaard Glassworks 150th anniversary in 1975. Mounted in original cast iron holder. "The Seasons" were produced in 2500 numbered copies. The first was an abstraction over summer, then followed autumn, spring and finally winter. They were all designed by Per Lütken. Signed and numbered. With a long and proud tradition of glass production since 1825, Holmegaard is a Danish design icon and one of the most recognised names in Scandinavian craftsmanship traditions. Per Lütken was a Danish glassmaker, most famous for his works at Holmegaard Glass Factory. Lütken has set his signature on the history of Danish glassmaking, designing more than 3,000 pieces of glass for Holmegaard, a company for whom he worked from 1942 and until his death in 1998.
