Charles Noke for Royal Doulton Cockatoo Mounted Pottery Speaker Cover

About the Item

A rare art deco Royal Doulton pottery speaker cover made for Artandia Limited mounted with a cockatoo and designed by renowned artist Charles Noke (British, 1858-1941) and dating from around 1920. The well potted speaker cover stands raised on a three square feet and is of beehive shape with a large cockatoo perched on the top. The cover has a relief molded rockwork patterned design to the body decorated in brushed green colors with the cockatoo painted in white, red and green with black features. The underside is formed to hold a recessed loud-speaker with four fixing points and is decorated in pale yellow glazes, and with a black printed Royal Doulton mark. Regardless of purpose this is a wonderful display piece and a rare example. In good condition.
