About the Item

Magnificent piece of collection and very rare hollow ceramic sculpture egg enameled shell faux ivory "trompe l'oeil" handmade and signed on the base from the talented Jean Roger. The egg it is the symbol of fertility, life and rebirth. Integrated into a decor as Gabrielle Chanel liked to surround herself in her apartment on rue Cambon with hundreds of objects testifying to her memories, small objects and lucky charms. In decoration, to give effect in an interior, the pieces are grouped in collection on the same console or shelf to give either a breath of curiosity cabinet style very trendy for several seasons or simply a piece that will join a collection and which will delight collectors, lovers of chinoiserie and objects that instantly evoke distant journeys. Born in 1927, Jean Roger has created his ceramic workshop in 1947. Its collections have in their time seduced the greatest of this world. Decorative objects in the shape of Palm and Pineapple as well as lamps and vases are the creations of his first exotic collection which was a huge success. Its clients are made up of ambassadors and consuls from France around the world, famous Dior or Coco Chanel houses, renowned designers such as Jean Royere, Jansen, Barret, Sacks, Lapidouse,… without forgetting the celebrities of the time: Margaret of England and Jackie Kennedy; who hurry to the workshop to place custom orders. Jean Roger is became the specialist in decoration painted on earthenware which he perfected until he could reproduce the patterns and colors of his clients' fabrics, surprising trompe l'oeil like this splendid ivory eggs, the decorative element approaches perfection. The loyal clientele of decorators and celebrities is joined by that of palaces (Plazza Athénée, Koenig Hotel), royal families from the Middle East (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan), and large French industrial families. The workshop is now in the hands of his grandson François Roger, grandson who brings the heritage of the house to life every day, by shaping the classics that made the success of his grandfather Jean Roger and of his father Jean-Jacques Roger by inventing his own pieces and its own colors. Francois Roger seduces fashion houses (Louboutin) and these decorators like Laura Gonzalez for whom he designed the wall lamps of the hotel Le Relais Christine or the Brasserie La Lorraine as well as a collection of strong pieces for the exhibition of AD magazine interior 2018. The Jean Roger brand still the image of world famous luxury homes and still internationally renowned.
