About

Geological age: Miocene 16 million years old

This unique slab of petrified oak from Oregon comes from the personal collection of the late André Van Hove (1922-1985), curator of the collection of minerals and fossils of the Museum of natural History Brussels and a well-known dealer in minerals and fossils from Belgium. Among his customers belonged famous collectors, museums, artists and decorators as Ado Chale, Emile Veranneman, etc. This slab was purchased from James Burnett (known as the best supplier of petrified wood in America) in Lebanon Oregon in 1980 and never left the collection of the widow of Mr. A. Van Hove.
Another similarly rare log specimen can be found in the renowned Houston museum of natural sciences.
