An amazing and massive piece, characteristic of Jean Megard's expression. About the Artist : As a ceramist Jean Megard (1925 - 2015) took part in the early fifties to several exhibitions of two prestigious parisian galeries ; the Galerie Mai for whom he was the exclusive ceramist and the Galerie La Roue with such artists as Elizabeth Joulia and Valentine Schlegel. In 1952 he joined his friend André Bloc in the Groupe Espace. In 1968 Pierre Soulages selected Jean Megard in order to realize a gigantic ceramic wall for the entrance hall of the One Oliver Plaza; in Pittsburgh, which must be considered today as the unique ceramic piece of the Master. As a painter, he was in close connexion with Klein, Hartung, Messagier, Poliakoff and Zao Wou-Ki. The Vasarely foundation in Aix en Provence has dedicated to Jean Megard a special exhibition in 1990. As a sculptor he was the student of Ossip Zadkine and Leopold Kretz and a close friend of Cesar and Arman. He took part in several Parisian exhibitions mostly at the Espace Cardin during the 70's and some of his spectacular Bronze works are permanent decorative elements of the St Sauveur Cathedral in Aix en Provence.
