Empoli glass is generally much simpler and does not have the intricately applied trim or decorations associated with Venetian and Murano pieces. A beautiful 19th century French handblown green glass demijohn or Dame Jeanne bottle, circa 1880s, having a bulbous shape and brightly colored green glass with visible bubbles and no seams, an indication that it was hand blown rather than made with a mold. The uneven cut at the top rim was created when the glass blower cut the bottle, also an indication that it was hand blown.
