About the Item

Square, oval-section purse powder compact in 925/1000 sterling silver gold plated with translucent two-tone striped enamel on guilloché and hand-engraved motifs on all sides. English Empire George V style. Ground mirror and mesh inside. “Lost” hinge, i.e. semi-invisible. Dimensions: 6 x 6.5 x 2 cm. Weight: 172 g. Designed by Giorgio Salimbeni in 1977 and produced at the Salimbeni company headquarters with manual workmanship by skilled artisans with very thick sheet metal and large reinforcements suitable for withstanding numerous high-fire enamel firings at approximately 750°<800° C. Hollowing of the “beds” where the enamel is placed with a depth of approximately mm. 0.4 using burins and subsequent guilloché engraving, which is a handcrafted process performed on precious metals that allows for surfaces engraved with complex and repetitive geometric patterns. The technique consists of engraving the metal with a burin using a manually controlled machine. Subsequent manual engraving of the Empire-style ornamentation is performed. High-fire enameling, with numerous firings, with translucent colors. Sanding and subsequent manual finishing engraving. It is a new object that has never been used but is considered vintage because it was built more than 20 years ago.
