Venini Signed Murano Glass Bottle by Gio Ponti with Original Stopper, Italy 1997

About the Item

A beautiful ‘a canne’ Murano blue art glass bottle designed by Gio Ponti and made by Venini in Murano, Venice, Italy in 1997. The original design for this piece is by Gio Ponti and comes from the Morandiana series designed by Ponti for Paolo Venini in the 1940s – 1950s and presented at the XXVIII Venice Biennale in 1956. This example is signed ‘Venini 97’, acid etched into the base on the rim just outside the pontil. The colour is bright and lush with wonderful vibrancy – please see the video of how the different coloured glass elements make the light play to create beautiful patterns. The bottle retains its original stopper. Bibliography: Marino Barovier & Carla Sonego (curators), ‘Paolo Venini e la sua fornace’, Skira, Milan 2016, p. 398, model # 4500.
