19th Century Belgium Set of Iron Tons, Educational Teaching Measures of Capacity

About the Item

Set of antique iron measure of capacity ton for educational use. Beautifully aged, slightly rusty patina but still very robust. The white letters are hand painted on the black painted iron. These where used to teach schoolchildren the capacity of measures; Decaliter, Liter, Deciliter, Centiliter. The five biggest have an extra iron rim on top, but only the five and two decaliter also have an iron level bar. I love the color contrast with the orange-red and black. All together it makes it a beautiful decorative set. In total there are nine capacity sizes: 5 decaliter diameter 42, height 42 cm 2 decaliter diameter 31, height 31.5 cm 1 decaliter diameter 25, height 25 cm 5 liter diameter 20, height 20.5 cm 2 liter diameter 15, height 14.5 cm 1 liter diameter 11, height 11 cm 5 D (deciliter) diameter 9, height 9 cm 2 D.C.L.T (deciliter/centiliter) diameter 6.5, height 7 cm 1 D.C.L.T (deciliter/centiliter) diameter 5, height 5.5 cm Please contact me with your address information for exact shipping quote.

  • Extremely Rare Early 1900s Brass Altar Server Set or Church Mass Teaching Set
    Located in Lisse, NL
For the collectors of very rare and museum worthy church 'teaching tools'. We had heard of the existence of sets like this, but we had never seen one anywhere. To have found one from the Arts & Crafts era and in this amazing condition more than made our day. Including the altar cards (of which we are not sure if they are original to this set) and including the spoons we have counted 24 pieces in total. We learned that these sets functioned as a training tool for altar boys and this particular set has been extremely well taken care after. The wear on the holy water sprinkler with its ebonized wooden handle shows us that this set has been used more than what the excellent condition brass pieces would lead you to believe. Included in this set are 6 candle holders, a monstrance, a ciborium, a holy water container, a church censer, a boat, a sprinkler with vessel, altar cards, a chalice, an altar bell...
