Small "Charnier", Terracotta Jar, 19th Century

About the Item

This earthenware jar is dated to the early 19th century. Originally called “charnier” or “saloir”, this clay jar was filled with salt, in which food was immersed (usually pork). This piece was made in Burié near the “Chapelle des pots”.
