Minton Majolica Mermen Jardiniere Turquoise Interior

About the Item

Minton Majolica jardinière with a mythological theme which features two mermen (sometimes attributed to the Sea God Neptune or to Triton), supporting shells. Cobalt blue ground version, with turquoise interior. Colouration: cobalt blue, green, cream, are predominant. The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '1362'. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1874.
