19th Century Regency Rosewood Antique Table Urn Tazza
About the Item
An Exceptional Quality Regency Period Rosewood Table Urn,
Or Tazza, Having Crisply Carved Decoration To Moulded Edge
And Turned Upright Support
(This is a great example of the high quality objects which cabinet
makers of early 19th century used to produce to compliment the
furniture they had already created. This piece in particular clearly
hails from a high end workshop evidenced by the exceptionally
crisp carved decoration and high grade of rosewood used in its
construction. Also the hand turned threads which are used to screw
the various sections together are quite exceptional in their construction.
What a perfect little vessel for holding any number of items around the
home from sweets, to some kind of decorative pebbles/stones or
even a great place to drop those car keys when you first walk in the
door of the house)

- Rosewood 19th Century Writing TableLocated in Bedfordshire, GBAn exceptional quality mid-19th century, William IV Period, rosewood writing table having blind tooled leather inset to crossbanded top, over two drawers with original turned wooden knobs opposed by two false drawers, to extremely elegant shallow frieze, raised on reverse tapered, faceted, end supports with elegant carved scrolling feet and original recessed brass castors. Dating to the William IV period, which of course has a most distinctive style of its own sitting, despite not lasting very long between the late regency and victorian periods of english furniture making, this writing table has a lot of stand out features. Firstly it is a great size. A little bigger than many, indeed big enough to use as a day to day desk for working at, whilst not being overpoweringly large like many earlier georgian writing tables which one may find. It is also of exceptional quality. Clearly constructed in a top workshop it is constructed using high end, decorative rosewood veneers on the outside and a lot of mahogany as secondary timbers on the inside which is a great sign of quality. The entire table oozes class and sophistication in fact from top to bottom. The original turned wooden knobs are a nice feature, as is the high support...Category

- Late Regency 19th Century Gillows Oak Wine TableBy Gillows of Lancaster & LondonLocated in Bedfordshire, GBA very good quality 19th century regency period oak wine table, or lamp table, attributed to gillows of lancaster, having shaped tray top with gadrooned, carved, decoration over moulded reverse tapering column with stylised lotus baluster and elegant swept tripod legs with foliate carved decoration. "Attributed To Gillows." This fine quality, charming little table follows a widely recognised design pattern which features in the Gillows Estimate Sketch Books for 16 July 1822, which refer to a "double round cornered top" and then appear again several times throughout the 1820's and 1830's. The designs are often referred to as "Flower Stands", or "Flower Tables" and there are various different itinerations to be found throuout the Regency and William IV periods. Constructed from charming, warm, rich oak veneers this little table is a great example. The carving is crisp and well executed and it retains a good colour and patina. It also remains in excellent condition and has clearly been well loved and well looked after throughout its history. The dimensions are great. Big enough to be practical and functional, but small enough to go just about anywhere around the home and serve a purpose as an antique lamp table, antique bedside table, antique wine table antique...Category
