Art Nouveau Austrian Secessionist Sculptural Ceramic Vase by Julius Dressler

About

This stunning and graphic ceramic vase was realized in Austria by Julia Dressler at the beginning of the 20th century. It features a conical body that ascends into a cylindrical neck that flares out at the mouth. The piece has sinuously curved and sculptural handles on each side and raised architectonic and curvilinear detailing throughout. The body of the piece is painted in cream with inflections of terracotta and moss throughout. With its sophisticated palate and surprisingly modern aesthetic, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from traditional to contemporary. While it is a perfectly functional vase-ideal for storing flowers- it is also an objet d'art in its own right that promises to add a touch of elegance to any surface that it graces. Excellent condition. Marked on the underside "Austria JBD"- which corresponds to Julius Dressler's proprietary mark. Austria, early 20th century Dimensions: 9" height x 6" diameter.
