Austrian art nouveau ceramics Origin Austria Circa 1900 Possibly designed by Eduard Stellmacher (1868-1945) Material: Glazed Technical Ceramic Excellent condition with natural wear At its base is stamped Astria and the number 1700 on the base it also has an illegible stamp. The art nouveau cultural movement emerged at the end of the 19th century and remained until the beginning of the 20th century, seeking to contrast with industrialization after the second industrial revolution. Art nouveau uses motifs inspired by nature or organic materials to capture sensuality and eroticism in decorative art objects, characteristic of this movement. Art nouveau encompasses the fields of painting, sculpture, literature, decoration, photography, and the design of jewelry, furniture, and objects.
