Art Deco Tropical Earthenware Vase by Charles Catteau for Boch Frères Keramis

About the Item

An Art Deco ovoidal vase in polychrome matte enameled earthenware with rounded shoulder and everted neck from the Belgian Boch Frères Keramis Factory. The tropical decor covering the body features a stylized crested parrot amongst blossoming branches in warm shades of brown, orange and yellow. The background is geometrically parted with a brown and dotted pattern alternating with a white ground. Created by the famous French ceramicist Charles Catteau at the beginning of the 20th century, this timeless piece combines stylized outlined designs with bold colors and striking contrasts as well as geometrical shapes characteristic of Art Deco’s vivid style. This beautiful vase by Boch Frères, with its attractive shape and simplified naturalistic tropical decor inspired by the avant-garde movements of the early 20th century, could become the focal point of any room.
