Ceramic, Porcelain Vein Vessel

About the Item

This ceramic vessel works both as a decorative piece on its own or can be used as a vase. I made this piece mixing a combination of porcelain paper clay with a black sable clay. I fired this piece to a cone 10 high fire and used minimal glazing to really showcase the beautiful black clay. I am doing an entire series with this clay body and these pieces look great paired together. There are multiple shapes available so you can create a pairing in twos and threes. This design begins with a strong base, then I build these pieces up with coils and pinch them together to create a vein like surface. The ceramic surface allows me to use interesting glazes and textures to highlight the veins. I am very interested in biomorphic, organic pieces and ceramics allows me to express my stye in a three-dimensional form.
