Chinese Antique Pottery White Porcelain Bowl /1050-1200/Beautiful and Rare Bowl

About the Item

I will introduce a very beautiful vessel. This is a white porcelain bowl made around the 11th-12th centuries in China. The place is a kiln called "Cizhou ware", which is about 400 to 500 km south of Beijing, and it is baked around the kiln. (The part marked with a red circle on the map in the posted image is the Cizhou ware.) Around 1910, an archaeological excavation was conducted on a town called "Kyoroku", which was submerged by a river flood in 1108. And it turned out that there was a large amount of porcelain with a previously unknown design. Its characteristic was that it was a very simple pottery made of white clay, hard unglazed, coated with white mud, and then covered with a transparent glaze. There was also a design with a black picture drawn on the white porcelain. And it turned out that there is a large ceramic industry around this town. That is the "Cizhou ware". Not only "Cizhou ware" but also other kilns made similar pottery. It was a pottery for many people to use, so it had to be baked in large quantities. This is one of them, a white porcelain bowl. It was excavated, but it is in good condition. There is a repair mark on the missing part of the mouth edge, and there is a crack under it, but since this has also been repaired, water will not leak. Since this pottery is fired using coal instead of firewood, it is oxidatively fired in a kiln, giving it a slightly creamy, gentle and soft atmosphere. Also, it is a little unusual to have a design with vertical streaks like this. A similar item was published in the art book, so I will post a photo. In Japan, these pottery were sometimes exported via the Korean Peninsula during the Edo period. In addition, it was highly evaluated in Europe and other countries around 1920, and was exported to all over the world through auctions. Also, Japan has a history of importing a lot of pottery from China before World War II and around 1980. Since this is an excavated item, it must have been imported before and after the war. It is a very beautiful pottery. It's also nice to use as a soup bowl. It is also ideal as a vase. A special storage wooden box is attached. Weight: 503g.
