This sculptural lamp marries a flat round shape with an inner Lantern creating a surprising twist to a simple design (measuring approx. 45cm x 25cm), it will add an amusing touch to your nature loving home. Description of the woven pendant lamp HATTER + LANTERN This contemporary artisanal lamp was designed in our studio by Sara Efia Reddin, the structures are woven by hand using a traditional basket weaving technic from Bolgatanga, in the north of Ghana. Then the two pieces are assembled to order in our workshop, now based in Barcelona, with CE certified electrics and polished brass fixtures. Woven with the grass Veta Vera, which is naturally durable. This medium size pendant lamp in natural colours finds it’s place above a dining table, in hallway or bedroom. It also makes a fun element in a Children´s bedroom. This pendant light is perfect alone or accumulated with other lamps in the Night & Day collection. Technics used to make the HATTER + LANTERN pendant lamp Basket weaving from Bolgatanga is a a traditional African weaving technic. The grass Veta Vera grows locally. The reeds are twisted by hand and small batches are coloured using vegetable dyes in cauldrons. The weaving is tight and smooth. Our lamps are woven by an association of weavers, these weavers have honed their art to make our contemporary shapes. This lamp takes 3 - 4 days to weave Why choose this pendant lamp… ? To own one of our pendant lamps, is to encourage the modernisation of a wonderful tradition, inspiring and supporting the weaving communities by introducing their art to the contemporary design world. Please do not forget that this lamp is woven by hand and the slight differences in shape and colour are completely normal. Please also remember that the material is natural and therefore we do not recommend them for use outside or on terraces or hanging in a hot humid room in front of a window. This geometric cushion in Ginger (terracotta) black and off-white is perfectly hand-woven in cotton (measuring 55 cm x 40 cm) and is durable and silky. This cushion will awaken your living room or bedroom, alone or accumulated with our other Kente cushions Description of the woven kente cushion 2-Step The Kente textile patterns of the Ewe people of Eastern Ghana are both traditional and Contemporary. We have playfully revisited these motifs in our design studio. Designed by Sara Efia Reddin and woven by Master weavers in the Volta region of Ghana, this cotton cushion is a beautiful touch of graphic history. Technics used to make the kente cushion 2-Step Kente weaving is a a traditional African weaving technic from Ghana. The weaving is perfectly tight and smooth and consist of elaborate geometric patterns repeated on fine strips of fabric. Woven on a traditional loom in strips of around 15cm. The strips are then sewn together to create a beautiful patchwork cloth. The cushions are made by a local seamstress. This cushion takes around 3 days to weave. Why choose this cushion … ?
